History
In 1999, Quality Careers Institute began from a desire in the community for an organization to address the needs of individuals seeking certifications for Information Technology careers. Individuals forming the school blended together their professional teaching expertise and skills to create a program which expressed the following philosophy, mission, and objectives. Programs in the Health Sciences were added as a need in the community was realized and resourced.
Mission
Quality Careers Institute’s mission is to open windows of opportunity for students, graduates, and employees in our career communities. We believe that to be effective we must deliver quality training that will provide employment opportunities for our graduates and enable them to seek career advancement. Our goal is to provide the most efficient training that will prepare our students for advancement in the pertinent fields we instruct in, as well as other occupational areas.
Philosophy and Objectives
Some key aspects of Quality Careers Institute make it distinct from other programs. The school’s objectives are to:
- Provide a small, nurturing, learning environment. Through small classes students reap the benefits of a mentoring, or apprenticeship-style, learning.
- Employ the most experienced and professional instructors available. This ensures that students receive the strongest foundation possible for beginning their careers.
- Include the rich educational resources in the community. A community-based approach to education includes introducing students to expert guest instructors, visiting various settings, which incorporate practicum, and introducing students to internships and externships at businesses hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices, and other locations in the community.
- Practice progressive teaching methods, which respect the various learning styles of adult students. The school employs professional educators who have the expertise to meet the various needs of students.
- Promote high ethical standards and professional conduct required of a professional career.
- Emphasize the importance of community service. The school is dedicated to community education and promoting the professional standing of our career offerings that collaborates with other professionals.
- Emphasize the importance of transformational learning and personal wellness.
- Deconstruct teacher authority and have students become authority of their own knowledge.
